The role of Sales Manager involves managing, directing, training and developing the sales team, identifying our target market, developing an effective sales plan for the department and staff, establishing sales strategies to generate new sales and to expand market share, monitoring the sales pipeline and establishing aggressive yet achievable sales goals. Among the most important objectives are ensuring that sales goals are reached or exceeded and inspiring and motivating the sales team to achieve the sales goals and targets
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Business Management
1. Represent our client with a comprehensive understanding of the business and
services offered.
2. Build, develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to
gain market share.
3. Determine and assign sales quotas, targets, and/or goals. Project and forecast
annual and quarterly revenue.
4. Achieve growth and annual sales targets by effectively training and managing the
sales team.
5. Track, analyze, and communicate key metrics and business trends as they relate to
customers. (Customers include clients, prospects, agent and agencies.)
6. Report sales team activity along with customer input to company leadership through weekly reports as requested or as noteworthy.
7. Analyze sales results and develop plans to address performance gaps.
8. Monitor competition, economic indicators, and industry trends.
9. Collaborate with Management team in lead generation, internal business operations and core objectives. This includes resolving escalated customer issues and customer complaints regarding sales and service.
10. Identify key agency partnerships and foster relationships with leadership within those agencies.
11. Make needed enhancements to Sales Playbook, including creating additional tools to support key agent management system and agency partnership initiatives.
12. Participate in industry related events including seminars, trade shows, conferences and networking opportunities.
13. Collaborate with the sales team to present regularly scheduled informational webinars and video conferences to customers.
Personnel Management
1. Set a good example for the team. Work according to company culture and values, prioritize ruthlessly, use good communication, and deliver results effectively.
2. Recruit sales staff, set objectives, create performance plans, train, coach, and monitor performance ensuring assigned tasks and responsibilities are fulfilled.
3. Identify knowledge gaps within the team and develop a plan to fulfill them.
4. Follow and refine as necessary a scalable sales process and ensure representatives adhere to it consistently and correctly.
5. Ensure sales team is following Sales Playbook methodologies including 12-4-2 key agent management system and agency partnership initiatives.
6. Ensure sales representatives use sales technologies, such as CRM, consistently and correctly.
7. Plan and implement effective training programs and hold regular skills training sessions with staff.
8. Meet with sales representatives one-on-one regularly to review performance, progress, and targets.
9. Deliver comprehensive performance reviews for each individual sales representative annually.
10. Coach individual sales representatives one-on-one through telephone work, prospecting help sessions and providing current examples of suggested scripts to help improve sales performance.
11. Participate in spontaneous and planned sales calls and field training days.
12. Counsel, support and implement corrective action plan for underperforming sales representatives.
13. Plan and preside over regular sales team meetings and knowledge sharing sessions.
14. Organize and lead week in review sales department discussions.
15. Unite the team and ensure individuals work as part of a positive unit and share their best practices.
Required Work Skills
1. Proven leadership ability.
2. Minimum five years of experience managing and directing a sales team.
3. Experience in recruiting, interviewing and hiring qualified sales representative candidates.
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
5. Attention to detail.
6. Experience utilizing sales tracking tools such as CRM.
7. Demonstrated ability to coach, train and develop sales team members.
8. Advanced degree preferred.
9. Experience working through agent/broker network preferred.
Equipment/Tools Utilized in Position:
Proficient skill in operation of PCs and basic office equipment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
